St. Clair Winery serves wine, music, good times                                  Melanie Hutchison, For the Headlight4:05 p.m. MDT July 21, 2016                                          What's to do in Deming?                                                                      [St. Clair1] Buy Photo                                  Melanie Hutchison is a free-lance writer for the Deming Headlight.
St. Clair Winery hosts live bands every Friday night during the summer. The winery has been a local landmark in Deming since 1984 at 1325 De Baca Road.                   You can tour New Mexico’s largest winery, where Florent and Hervé Lescombes produce St. Clair’s award-winning wines.  The Lescombes whom carry on their family’s six-generation history of wine making, produce over 70 different wines under many labels, including Blue Teal, D.H. Lescombes, Soleil and St. Clair.,  With 120 acres of vineyards located in the high desert of the Pyramid Valley, just outside Lordsburg, New Mexico, They have found the ideal climate and soil to grow the best quality grapes.  Dancing at the St. Clair Summer "Wine and Music" can't be avoided on a shady lawn with a cool breeze and glass of wine. (Photo: Melanie Hutchison - Headlight Photo)
Visitors from across the nation come to see the state-of-the-art winery which offers numerous award-winning wines for every taste. Just like New Mexico’s first vintners, their goal is to produce great wines and food to enjoy in the company of friends and family. On July 8, Triple Play, a band of amazing musicians, were the featured act. Sue Caldwell is the voice of the band and retired. Phil Holmes, on bass, runs the Rio Grande Theatre opening August 4. Craig Rivera plays guitar and is a retired civic center manager where he oversaw the community events for the city of Albuquerque. Mike Lafferty, on percussion, is a retired school teacher.Friday nights at the winery are fun for the whole family. Kids play games while parents enjoy live music, dancing and different varieties of wines. Guests can bring their own food and beverages (non-alcoholic, as alcohol is provided by St. Clair).
Occasionally the band brings children up to play and sing along with them. Many guests visit every week, however there are the occasional visitors and first-timers. It’s a great time to just unwind from the week and relieve stress.St. Clair also hands out raffle tickets with a purchase of a glass of wine and numbers are called where lucky winners receive St Clair merchandise such as; bottle openers, cork screws, towels, T-shirts, etc.Come enjoy music all summer long and join the fun at St. Clair Winery.
